Exercise Physiology
Aims and scope
This lecture series addresses the in-depth, systematic understanding of Exercise Physiology in health, disease and performance, with a focus on how metabolic regulation and immune function shape the response to exercise. The course builds on the biochemical and physiological basis of exercise, covering homeostasis and hormesis, the energy systems and macronutrient metabolism, energy expenditure and the MET concept, threshold concepts and lactate, sleep, and innate and adaptive immunity. On this foundation it develops the principles needed to quantify exercise intensity and to translate them into evidence-based recommendations on endurance and resistance training, athlete development and nutrition.
