Course Details

This course is part of the Sports Medicine and Health Promotion (GSM) and Sports Medicine - Performance and Training Physiology (Module NW-1 L(b), LA., V) modules, offered within the Bachelor of Science Sportwissenschaft Performance and Health and Teacher training programs at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena.

Learning and Qualification Objectives

Understanding of fundamental physiological processes, also in their application to sports; differentiated application of scientific and sports medicine principles to training processes in theory and practice. Development of moderation, communication, and presentation skills in a professional context; development of scientific discourse skills through exchange with others; development of skills for developing and critically evaluating arguments and appreciating different perspectives. Based on their acquired knowledge of medical fundamentals, students are able to analyze, discuss, and evaluate the multidimensional development of movement, sensorimotor performance and recovery capacity, and training. Furthermore, they are able to understand and evaluate the preventive and health-promoting dimensions of psychophysical development in the immediate context of school sports. Students master the fundamentals of exercise and sports medicine as directly related to school sports.

Grading

Basic in Sports Medicine and Health Promotion (GSM) - Bachelor of Science Performance and Health (B.Sc.)

Module examination in the form of two parts:

  • Fundamentals of Sports Medicine and Health Promotion (written exam, 60 min, 50%)
  • Basics in Exercise Physiology (written exam, 60 min, 50%)

Each module part must be passed.
